How to Celebrate the New Year in Los Angeles

Posted On: 12/16/2019

Los Angeles knows how to ring in the New Year. Why wait in the chill of the East Coast when there’s so much to do in Los Angeles. From black-tie galas, family friendly events, to free block parties, Los Angeles offers something fun for everyone to kick off 2020.

Favorite ways to celebrate the New Year in LA always include annual celebrations like New Year’s Eve at Disneyland or the Queen Mary, but there are also incredible parties like dance marathons, balls, and rooftop soirees.

Ready to countdown in California? Here are just a few of our favorite NYE events:

N.Y.E.L.A.

This is the biggest New Year’s Eve countdown in Los Angeles and the West Coast’s flagship celebration with a midnight countdown projected onto City Hall. It brings together Angelenos and visitors from all over the world and features DJs and bands, photogenic installations, and food trucks. Countdown starts at 11:55 PM. Keep in mind this is a family-friendly event and alcohol-free.

New Year’s Eve at Disneyland

On New Year’s Eve the world’s most famous theme park stays open until 2 AM. New Year’s Eve typically draws one Disneyland’s largest crowds of the year. And while Disneyland does fireworks every night, it’s truly something special on New Year’s Eve. Festivities at Disneyland will feature DJs in Tomorrowland, Fantasyland and Frontierland. There’s also two chances to catch fireworks: at 9pm and 11:59pm. Perfect for the kids!

EVE at Universal Studios Hollywood

EVE is park wide celebration with three live DJ party areas, live music, dancing and midnight fireworks. There’s desserts, beer, wine and champagne available for purchase at each party spot. Entertainment includes electronic dance music at Simpsons Plaza, Latin favorites in the lower lot, and pop hits at the Universal Plaza.

New Year’s Eve Aboard the Queen Mary

This 21 and over party offers a roaring 1920s-themed experience. The ship’s decks and ballrooms are brought to life with live music on multiple stages, dancing, themed experiences, and immersive entertainment. At midnight there’s a dazzling fireworks display over the Pacific Ocean!

Countdown at the NOS Center in San Bernardino

This intergalactic party is the perfect way to blastoff into the New Year. With over 30,000 attendees, it’s the largest New Year’s Eve party on the West Coast. Countdown offers alien themed, extraterrestrial stages: the Mothership, the Nebula, Area 51, and Twilight Zone. Alesso, Borgore, Galantis, Porter Robinson, the Chainsmokers and more top the 2020 lineup.
